About Keele University

Set in the historically significant county of Staffordshire, which was part of the cradle of the industrial revolution, one finds a university, renowned for its environmental international relations background. Enter Keele University; having a politically controversial and loaded past, such as when they declared independence from the UK for a week in the 1980s, it is known for defeating the odds and focusing on the much neglected issues of the world. Keele University places great importance on Environmental matters as it is surrounded by nature, its beautiful woods, a number of lakes and variety of wildlife; there is also an on-campus Observatory. Considering the combination of these factors, Keele is the ideal location for the first ever environmental and development themed MUN conference!

About KMUN

Keele Model United Nations (KMUN) is proud to be hosting this conference and creating new experiences for participating delegates. Keele is usually well represented at Model UN conferences around the United Kingdom, and occasionally around Europe. The reputation of Keele delegates is something our University is proud of, as over the past few years our delegation has consistently achieved awards. This year we would like to focus our efforts on hosting a very successful conference rather than simply participating. In affiliation with the Keele University School of Politics, International Relations and Philosophy and our wide network of support we will make KEMUN a worthwhile conference with our strong links to environmental politics.

About KEMUN

We would like to welcome you to KEMUN the second Model United Nations conference to be hosted by Keele University on the weekend of the 15th-17th November 2013. Having started small in February 2013, KEMUN is now looking to broaden it’s horizons and become bigger and better than before. Our aim is to provide a conference that will be able to tackle some of the biggest environmental issues of our time this year focusing on the issues of Bio-Security, something that the Professor’s at our university specialise in. Furthermore, we wish to honour Keele University’s long standing ethos of sustainability and green living especially as we have had such great support from Keele’s Think:Green group as well as from Professor’s and lecturers who support the Green lobby.
